Ways to revive

A placed Checkpoint Flag · PEAK Wiki (CC BY-SA 4.0)
| Method | Who comes back | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ancient Statue | Every dead or unconscious scout | +5 Curse each (+15 on Ascent 7), return with 30 Hunger | One use per statue |
| Scout Effigy | One random dead or unconscious scout | No Curse | Consumed even if nobody is dead; not in solo |
| Book of Bones | A dead skeleton, as a Living Skeleton | +5 Curse | Reviving another player gives Applied Esoterica |
| Checkpoint Flag | Only yourself, at the flag | No Curse | A personal respawn point, not a team revive |
Ancient Statues

An Ancient Statue · PEAK Wiki (CC BY-SA 4.0)
Ancient Statues stand next to campfires along the route. Interact with one and it crumbles:
- If any scout is dead or unconscious, they all come back at the statue with 30 Hunger and +5 Curse (+15 on Ascent 7).
- If everyone is alive, it spawns a random mystical item instead. It can give anything except the Cursed Skull.
Because a statue only works once, the usual rule is to save it until someone actually dies, unless your group badly needs a mystical item.
The statues inside the Tomb are decorative and cannot be used.
What a statue gives when nobody is dead
Every item in the pool has the same chance except the Scoutmaster’s Bugle, which is rarer. The pool is smaller in solo runs, because items that only make sense with other scouts are removed.
| Pool | Possible items | Chance each |
|---|---|---|
| Co-op | Anti-Rope Cannon, Anti-Rope Spool, Anti-Zooka, Book of Bones, Bugle of Friendship, Cure-All, Faerie Lantern, Pandora’s Lunchbox, Ritual Dagger, Scout Effigy | 9.6% |
| Co-op | Scoutmaster’s Bugle | 3.8% |
| Solo | Anti-Rope Cannon, Anti-Rope Spool, Anti-Zooka, Book of Bones, Cure-All, Faerie Lantern, Pandora’s Lunchbox | 13.5% |
| Solo | Scoutmaster’s Bugle | 5.4% |
A solo statue never gives a Scout Effigy, and in co-op the odds are about one in ten, so trading a statue for an item is not a way to stock up on revives. Any mystical item does count for the Esoterica badge.
Where the statues are

The Gloom statue · PEAK Wiki (CC BY-SA 4.0)
On the islands in the current pool there are four usable statues per run, one in each of these regions:
| Region | Statue |
|---|---|
| Shore | Yes |
| Tropics / Roots | Yes |
| Alpine | Yes |
| Mesa | Yes |
| Caldera | Yes, in the temple at the far end |
| Gloom | Yes, in the left room of the Citadel entrance hall |
| The Kiln / The Citadel | None |
The final tower never has one. Today’s map marks each statue; the luggage locations page lists them by region together with the luggage.
Across the 208 islands in the current pool that is 4 statues every day, including Mesa days. The Shore statue is there every single day.
Planning revives along the route
Before the run, open today’s lineup and count the statues ahead of you. The gaps matter more than the total:
- Mesa days now have a statue in the Mesa as well. The last statue on either route is still the Caldera temple or the Gloom, and the final tower has none.
- The last statue is in the Caldera temple (Kiln route) or in the left room of the Citadel entrance hall (Gloom route). After it, the only revives are a Scout Effigy or the Book of Bones.
- The last statue is the one to save. The final tower has no statue at all, so if the group is complete when you reach the last one, think twice before trading it for an item.
Common revive mistakes
| Mistake | Why it hurts | Better habit |
|---|---|---|
| Using a statue for an item early | One fewer revive later; the island only has four | Only spend it if the group really needs the item |
| Testing the Scout Effigy | It is used up even with no ghost to revive | Keep it until someone is actually dead |
| Reviving with a statue on Ascent 7 | Each revived scout takes 15 Curse on top of the starting 10 | Use the Effigy first on Ascent 7 |
Solo vs group
In a group, statues are the backbone of your safety net: one statue can bring back several dead scouts at once, which is also the fastest route to Clutch (three revives in one expedition). In solo, the Scout Effigy never spawns, and a statue is mainly a source of a mystical item from the smaller solo pool above. A Checkpoint Flag works the same in both modes: it only ever brings back the player who placed it, at the flag.
Scout Effigy

A consumable mystical item that revives one random dead or unconscious scout at the spot you use it, with no Curse. That makes it the best revive on Ascent 7, where statue revives are expensive.
- It is used up even if nobody is dead, so do not test it.
- It does not spawn in solo runs.
- It comes from ancient luggage (co-op pool) and from statues.
- It counts toward the Clutch badge (since patch 1.9.a).
- Cooked, it grants 10 Bonus Stamina when used. It weighs 5.
Book of Bones

Book of Bones · PEAK Wiki (CC BY-SA 4.0)
Raises a dead scout as a Living Skeleton, at +5 Curse. Resurrecting another player this way earns the Applied Esoterica badge. The book also makes most heat hazards in the Caldera trivial while you hold it.
